5. Termez

Located on the Amu Darya river’s banks, Termez has a history that spans over 2,500 years. It was a crucial point on the Silk Road due to its strategic location. The city is home to archaeological sites like the Buddhist complex of Kara-Tepe and the Sultan Saodat Ensemble, reflecting its diverse cultural influences. Termez’s history as a melting pot of cultures is evident in its architectural and archaeological treasures.

 

6. Shakhrisabz

Shakhrisabz, the birthplace of Tamerlane, is a city steeped in history. The ruins of the Ak-Saray Palace, once a grand structure, hint at the city’s former glory. The Dorut Tilavat complex, with its turquoise domes and intricate mosaics, is a masterpiece of Timurid architecture. Shakhrisabz, though smaller than its counterparts, holds its own with its rich history and architectural gems.
